Spring Writing Class

Interested in improving your writing? If you want help with a novel or short story, you will find this eight-week course useful and enjoyable. Even if you are writing nonfiction or a memoir, we will cover techniques that will strengthen your narrative.
Each session we look at a different aspect of storytelling such as plotting or characterisation, and we also critique pieces written by participants. All adults are welcome no matter their age, experience or ability, and it will be informal, informative and interactive.
Instructor Stephen Rea, originally from Northern Ireland, was a national newspaper journalist in the UK and has lived in New Orleans since 2004. He taught this course for four years to 200 writers at the Walker Percy Center, Loyola University. He is the author of the books Finn McCool’s Football Club and World Cup Fever.

Tuesdays from 7 – 9pm
Starts on March 25 and runs until May 13
Cost – $300 for all eight sessions
In the Crow’s Nest private room at Mid-City Yacht Club, 440 S St Patrick Street (it’s a bar, not a yacht club!)
