ALOUD features one writer once a month. After the feature set, we break and come back for an open mic. Come early to enjoy the breezy balcony, enjoy food and drinks, and hang out with fellow poets.

Cate Root is a poet in New Orleans. She moved here at 22 for no good reason and with no named ambitions. Making 18 years in her creative home, she has found community with former NOLAFugees correspondents, her cohort at UNO’s MFA program, journalists in a precarious industry, socialists who believe in a better world, and poets.
