On January 25th, I have the pleasure of presenting two amazing writers, both who have published a book within the last year, Marguerite (Maggie) Sheffer and M.A. Nicholson. So please come out to Three Muses, 536 Frenchmen Street, on Saturday, January 25th, from 2-4 PM, and enjoy these amazing writers.
A brief Open Mic to start, followed by these two amazing features.

Marguerite (Maggie) Sheffer’s debut short story collection, The Man in the Banana Trees won the 2024 Iowa Short Fiction Award and was named a “Best Debut Book of 2024 by Debutiful and a “Most Exciting Debut Story Collection” by Electric Literature. Her stories appear in The Cincinnati Review, BOMB, LitHub, Asimov’s Science Fiction, and Smokelong Quarterly, among other magazines. She is a founding member of Third Lantern Lit.
NOLA-native M.A. Nicholson spends her days teaching creative writing at The Willow School and enjoying life with her family and friends in the best city on planet Earth.
A 2022 graduate of UNO”s MFA program and former Associate Poetry Editor for Bayou Magazine, M.A. has written for Where Y’at magazine since 2018. Her debut poetry collection Around the Gate was selected for the 2023 Hilary Tham Capital Collection prize, and she has work published in Best New Poets 2022, Diode Poetry Journal, New Orleans Review, and elsewhere. She was Kenyon Review’s 2024 Peter Taylor Fellow.
